Job Hunting Survival Kit
YOU'VE GOT THIS
We know job hunting is tough and want to help support you through the process. We've pulled together a number of resources and tools to help you find your next opportunity.

HOW CAN YOU STAND OUT?
Applying for jobs can be pretty competitive with many jobs getting hundreds of applications. The question is - how can you stand out compared to other candidates?
There are a few key things you can do to help your application stand out. Recruiters determine whether you're right for the job based on more than your CV alone.
Here are 5 things you can do to help your chances:
1) Tailor your CV. Ensure that you highlight the specific skills and experiences that are relevant
2)Apply Early. The best roles get filled really fast, so make sure you apply as soon as you see the role.
3)Follow up. A polite follow up could make all the difference and shows that you're really keen.
4) Have your phone on. It sounds simple, but we often try call applicants whose phone goes straight to voicemail.
5) Prepare stories. Use real examples to show experience from previous jobs.

Frequently asked questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions when looking for work.
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Some candidates secure a role within a few weeks, while others may take several months depending on their industry, experience, location and the current job market. The key is to stay consistent and keep building momentum.
Focus on quality rather than quantity. Applying for 5-10 roles that genuinely match your skills and experience will often deliver better results than sending out dozens of generic applications.
Yes. You don't need to rewrite your entire CV, but making small adjustments to highlight the most relevant skills, experience and achievements can significantly improve your chances of being shortlisted.
There could be several reasons:
· Your CV may not clearly match the role requirements.
· The role may have attracted a high volume of applicants.
· The employer may have filled the position internally.
· The hiring process may simply be moving slower than expected.
If you're not getting responses after multiple applications, it may be time to review and update your CV.
Absolutely. Employers often advertise their ideal candidate, but many successful applicants don't tick every box. If you meet most of the key requirements and can demonstrate transferable skills, it's worth applying.
Keep it clear, concise and easy to read. Focus on achievements rather than simply listing responsibilities on their own. Wherever possible, include measurable results and examples of how you've added value in previous roles.
Take time to:
-Research the company
-Understand the role you're applying for
-Prepare examples of your achievements
-Think about questions you'd like to ask
-Plan your route or test your technology if the interview is online
The more preparation you do, the more confident you will feel before the interview.
Be honest and straightforward. Whether you were travelling, studying, caring for family, recovering from illness or between jobs, most employers are understanding when you provide a clear explanation.
Rejection is a normal part of the job search process. It doesn't necessarily mean you weren't good enough. Sometimes another candidate simply had more relevant experience. Where possible, ask for feedback and use it to strengthen your future applications.
Many candidates:
-Apply for roles they aren't suited to
-Send the same CV to every employer
-Fail to prepare for interviews
-Give up too quickly
Job hunting can take time, so persistence and consistency are often what separate successful candidates from everyone else.
Employers are typically looking for:
-Relevant skills and experience
-Reliability and professionalism
-Good communication skills
-A positive attitude
-Evidence that you're genuinely interested in the opportunity (also remember what jobs you have applied for!)
